Welcome to Tucson is a supernatural mystery noir where Detective Arie Mitchell and her reluctant partner, D.C., uncover a secret facility controlling the city’s strangeness. From clones to shadowy experiments, Tucson thrives on weirdness—until Mitchell and D.C. shut it down. But reality without the supernatural feels… off. When an old enemy resurfaces and Mitchell is left for dead, D.C. and their eccentric ally George must restore the city’s weirdness to save her. Blending dry humor, eerie mysteries, and high-stakes action, Welcome to Tucson is a story about conspiracies, chaos, and the strange magic that makes a place feel like home.

The following is an excerpt from the novel:

At the center of the room, just beneath the giant screen, stood a podium. And on that podium, in a laughably low-tech display of absurdity, was a single red switch.

A comically large, metal-plated switch with the words MAIN SWITCH printed boldly above it. Beneath it, two clearly labeled positions: ON and OFF.

For a long moment, no one spoke.

D.C. raised a finger. “Okay. I have questions.”

Mitchell tilted her head, lips pressing together in barely contained amusement. “What. The hell.”

George, who had been wringing his hands nervously, let out a strangled laugh. “Yep. That’s it. That’s the whole thing.”

D.C. whirled toward Mitchell, gesturing wildly at the switch. “THIS IS IT?! You mean to tell me this entire massively advanced, secret underground, supernatural anomaly-controlling facility runs on a single on/off switch?!”

George nodded sheepishly. “Uh… yeah. Pretty much.”

Mitchell blinked, rubbing her forehead. “That is horrible security.”

D.C. stepped closer to the switch, staring at it like it personally offended them. “There’s no way. No way. This is some kind of prank, right? There’s gotta be a password. A retinal scanner. A key card at least!”

George shook his head. “Nope. Just the switch.”

Mitchell threw up her hands. “No wonder this town is an anomaly dumpster fire.”

D.C. leaned over, inspecting the base of the switch. “It’s not even in a glass case! No ‘Are you sure?’ button? Just… flip it and boom, everything goes back to normal?”

George scratched the back of his head. “I think they, uh, assumed no one would ever get this far.”

Mitchell exhaled sharply. “They underestimated us, I guess.”

D.C. whirled around. “They underestimated the fact that some janitor could’ve leaned on it and accidentally turned Tucson into normal-ville?!”

George shrugged. “I mean… it’s a really sturdy switch.”
